ATTRACTIVE FILM AT THE QUEEN'S.

Ricardo Cortez, whom some con- sider as a nucessor to Valentino, Lols Wilson, Estelle Taylor and William Powell are included in a "personality" cast appearing in "New York", the film attraction which is being screened for the last time to-day at the Queen's Theatre. An interesting fact is that it is one of the first pictures, in which Estelle Taylor appeared after her marriage to the erstwhile boxing Champion, Jack Dempsey.

As is indicated by the title, the picture has the mighty city of New York as Its theme, life in the poorer quarters being contrasted with the splendid residences of its million- aires. They story deals with the efforts of a talented jazz-player of an East-side carbaret haunt to rise above his station. He succeeds to a point when he is about to marry the daughter of a millionaire, when an episode in his past crops up and threatens to 'drag him back to where he originally belongs. out However, everything comes right in the end, and the dream of the jazz-player is realised.

The plot, is a plausible one, and It is well acted.

Whereupon Mr. Stevens made a strong protest.
