His Lordship remarked to Mr. Lo that the book, without a trans- lation, was unclass to him.

Mr. Lo replied that he had only become aware of the book on Thursday.

Anuthor fish seller of Macao gave similar evidence, stating that the first defendant had aold crabs. to him at 8.m. on May 16. Wil ness was sure it was nol on May 14 that he saw the defendant. Witness produced a book which, he said, contained an entry relat ing to the sale. The book, how- |ever, was not kept by himself.

Corroborative ovidence was given by a third fish dealer.

After retiring for about half an hour, the jury returned a verdict of not guilty and the prisoners were discharged.. !
