A 22-year-old Glasgow girl, Miss Ella Torrance of Garmunnock, was the victim of a mysterious shoot- ing affair on the picturesque'
Cathkin Braes, near Glasgow re- cently.
She was walking out with her Gance, James Campbell, a Glas gow young man, when a shot was heard,
The couple paid little heed, and walked on. Presently, however, a second rang out, and Miss Tor- rance sank to the ground, exclaim- ing, "Oh, Jimmy, I've been shot!" Her companion found that there was a wound in her back, and, with the assistance of passers-by, carried Miss Torrance to a neigh- bouring farm,
Later she was removed to Glas- gow Infirmary, where she was found to have a servere gunshot wound in the right shoulder, and her condition was reported to be critical.
In an interview Mr. Campbell said he had no idea who fired the. 2 shot. They saw no one with a gun. The police made Inquiries throughout the Saturday night, but could not eludicate the mystery.
