Our Sickness,

OWN SELF USUALLY TO

BLAME

[By Olive Roberts Barton.]

A well-known! physician sald' to a pallent recently, "Consider almost every illness you have un indiscretion."

The patient, if i heard the story correctly, got up and walked ex- citedly about and told the doctor that he had come to him for medi- cine and not for a lecture. "What I want is pills to digest my food and stir up my liver and get rid at this confounded headache. You'd think I was a dissipated, gluttonous incrinte, the way you talk!" he cried, "I do take care of aaykell!"

But the doctor was adamant, I "I won't give you any medicine until you promise to stick to the diet list and the exercises I guvėj you," he replied, "You haven't ilone it yet."

But the unhappy patient had picked up his hat and departed, to go to another doctor,, who, we hope, faid him the same thing.

After all, it would seem that not brains, hearts, and lungs. make the world go around, but) the lowly part of your organism know as the alimentary caial.

We are all full of peison, more ur less, all the time. Certain foods, in spite of their fine flavour, are as poison to certain people' as nightshade. Hich of us has a pet pasen too, or poisous, for what will make you strong and well a week. may put me to bed fir One person cannot eat, anything with white tour in it, another can- hot eat fresh strawberries, others! cannot digest chocolate, or eggs, or even milk. But each diet he can stay reasonably well!

Dyed hair is nol smiled upon. At any rate, the too obvious gold or copper-coloured hair has no place in the latest fashions. White hair a passion with hairdressers and Tressmakers, and, if it were pos- Isible, they would bleach us all,

As it is, they use only the most natural dyes, when the hair is in the unlovely pepper and salt stage, and advise all young women to keep their hair the shade that na- ture gave it.

What is more, it will be impos- sible to be well-dressed unless ittingly dressed.

Morning clothes are all of the simplest; afternoon clothes, just a little less simple, and, in the even- g, the dress may be simple, or ply grand, La Ruit the time or place.

Three evening gowns stan rently, dreams of elegance, in nonssline-de-sole, deserve a word of comment, One of them was in lmond-green, flowing, Buttering, a truly novel and vaporous in Why,,

One of the gowns, was quite short on one side, reaching down the ground on the other. The Jecond was of silver grey, which ooked like a cloud, and the third was of black.

Seeing these dresses accentua- ted the Impression that even' hough beads are briliant, Rhines
