LEICESTER RECOVERY.
Brilliant Bowling By Freeman.
Leicester accomplished d bril liant performance in averting de- font by Kent at Tonbridge. Nearly 200 runs in arrears on the first innings, they compiled the capital total of 482 in their second innings, thanks to a superb batting, display by Shipman, and Kent were unable to obtain the runs necessary for victory, in the time at their disposal..
Freeman again bowled brilliant- ly, taking fifteen wickets in the course of the game. His efforts were chiefly responsible for Lei- cester's first innings collapse, while although severely punished in the second innings, he alone took wickets seven falling to, his. wiles.
Shipman refused to be tempted and scored 226 in a brilliant dis- play, making, we believe, the highest score of his first-class
carcer.
The scores were:
Leicester: 107 and 432. Kent: 288 and 189 for
wickets.
Northants being on top almost throughout. The scores were;
Warwick: 229 and 154. Northants: 292 and 93 for
wicket.
Howell took five wickets for 70 runs in Northants' first innings.
GLOUCESTER FAILURE.
Batting Breaks Down Against

Leicester could do Hittle with Freeman's bowling in the first innings, and the little bowler returned an analysis of 8 wickets for 64 rung
Thanks to Woolley, who scored at a rapid pace to net 160 runs in a total of 288, Kent gained a big lead on the first innings, and thus credited themselves with ma jor points.
The game changed, completely in the second innings, Kent's bowling being severely trounced.. Ship- man sebred 266, while Freeman took 7 wickets for 160 runs.
Needing 252 runs to win, Kent set out to get them in the brief time at their disposal; but stumps were drawn after six wickets had fallen and when 83, runs were still needed.
CAMBRIDGE VICTORY.
Remarkable Triumph for
W. V. Robins.
Some splendid cricket by Cam bridge University at Lord's where they beat the M.C.C. by eight wickets, adds to their alrendy high reputation this season. Their Cleaned?triumph was in no small measure due to the fine all-round display given by W. V. Robins, and to a fine purinership between him and E. T. Killick.

After the Varsity had been dis missed for 191, Leveson-Gower's proceeded to put themselves in a strong position, though curiously enough it was left to two bowlers, Nigel Haig and Howell to do the bulk of the scoring. Halg hit up. 111 in his usual graceful style, while Howell made 101 in a rapid knock.
