LORD BANBURY HOWLED DOWN.
UPROAR AT MEETING OF -ILS.P.C.A.
"There were remarkable scenes at an extraordinary general meeting of the Royal Society for the Pre- vention of Cruelty to Animals at Central Hall, Westininster, recently.
Lord Banbury, who presided, was howled down, and later he do clured the meeting adjourned.
The trouble began when the chairman referred to a circular letter issued by the Hon. Stephen Coleridge, in which it was alleged that Lord Banbury had spoken against the Dogs' Protection Bill.
From the back of the hall came a demand that Lord Banbury should vacate life chair in order to make his reply.
Lord Banbury remained stand- ing at the table.
Loud Outery.
a loud Immediately thore was outery, silenced for a moment by the shout, "Have you been elected by the Council to take the chair?"
Lord Banbury-Yes. Uproar brake out again, a num ber of people shouting for the pro duction of the minutes.
Lord Banbury-If members here do not wish to hear the truth, the best thing for them to do is to go out.
A Member (nagrily)-You are. taking aides.
Lady Cory, who sat on the chair- man's right, clapped her hands, and Lord Banbury, turning to her, made a remark.
At this point the Hon. Stephen Coleridge walked from the body of the hall to the foot of the platform and was loudly cheered. He said: What some of my friends apparent- ly feel is that if you are going to make attacks upon me, some other person should be in the chair.
"We have no chairman," quickly became the general chorus.

The Hon. Stephen Coleridge told Lord Banbury that they wished to bear all that he had to say, "but let some other member of the council take the chair while you make your speech." (Applause.)
Lord Banbury--What I am doing is perfectly in order. If the meet- ing will not listen to me I shall simply dissolve the meeting. (Ap- plause.)
After more interruption, Lord' Banbury adjourned the meeting and left the building.
Later, while Lady Cory was speaking, the lights suddenly went out, and Mr. Coleridge remarked, "I] lighting that has been turned off shall be delighted to pay for the
