The assistant manager of the defendant firm yesterday sald that the plaintiff was engaged on February 23 on the recommenda tion of another watchman. Hia M.V. wages were agreed at $25 a month. On March 23, witness paid the plaintiff his wages for February and gave him a month's notice to the effect that his services, would not be required after April 23... The reasons for the dismissal were that the plaintiff was inattentive to his duties, sometimes he could not be found, when supposed to be on duty, and bulbs had been stolen while he was watchman.
The plaintiff worked until April 13, after which date ho did not Witness had not again turn up.

On more than one occasion, said witneas, he had arrived at the shop at seven o'clock in the morning and found the place all locked up with the plaintiff nowhere in sight, with the result that he had to enter by a back door.
Corroborative evidence was given by an Indian and a Chinese and the plaintiff showed consider. | able emotion in cross-examining them, particularly the former, Plaintif alleged that they were not speaking the truth.

Eventually, after his Lordship had put the main points of the case before the plainti ́ for an- swer, and after Mr. Owen had nd- dressed the court, his Lordship summed up and gav: judgnient for the defendant Arm with costs.
Plaintiff's Complaint,
The plaint then said he had na money to engage a solteiror and he was not so oralay as a polici- tor. If there had been no sollei tor for the defendant, he added, the case might have had a different result.
His Lordship painted out the time ho bad spent on the case, saying that he had taken very special precaution as he invariably. did in such cases. He had done all he could for the plaintiff.
