The incident for which Mr. Reidy was suspended occurred just outside the judge's box when the field was passing the winning post for the first time in the seventh race of the day Mr. Roidy, on Skipper, was leading the field side by side with Mr. Chun on Zin. The latter occupied the rails and the rest of the field were well bunched up behind the leaders,

BOYS SAYS MAGISTRATE DROVE HIM TO STEAL,
His career as a street flower vendor having been abruptly ter- minated by a former appearance before the Kowloon Magistrate on a charge of breach of the Haw- kers'. Ordinance, a 16-year-old Chinese boy, who was charged before Mr. W. Schofield yesterday with stealing 17 cents from a pedestrian's pocket, pleaded that he had no means of livelihood, especially as his Worship had prevented him from selling flow- era.
The defendant was stated to have been putting his hand into the complainant's pocket whilst the latter was eagerly watching a display by a Chinese medicine seller in Nathan Road on Sunday afternoon.
The defendant said that he was an orphan and had no relatives in Since his Worship the Colony.

Taking this into consideration, had the team been firing on the old targets on May 13, it may fairly 2 be assumed that the ten best scores should have amounted to about 940 points, only points less than last year's winning ncore. A further point in Singapore's favour thie year is that the other ports will not have the services of so many shots from the Regular Army, so there is every reason to hope for a Singapore Ruccess this year, though t un- derstood that the Scots Guard GENERAL'S CLERK FAILS TO had informed him that, not having who were so instrumental in giving Hongkong the winning year, are still available to that port. At Singapore's first practice this year, the best ten scores amounted to 867, La., an average score per man of 80.7. At the second practice the ton best scores came to 807 or 89.7 per man, an increase of three points per man. On May 13th, the man, a further increase of 2.2 points per firer, and con Sunday totalled 913 or 91.3 per man
