The winners of the Inter-Company cross-country race of the Beds, and Herts, for cup presented by a Shanghai resident. Thirty runners from oach company competed, the team from "D" Company, the newly formod machine gun company of the battalion, being successful. The first 25 men home counted in the scoring, Sgt. Joffery (in black), the winner of the in- ternational Cross-country Championship, was easily first man home, his time being 20 minutes for the distance of about

four miles.
