FAMOUS CRICKETER DIES OF

TYPHOID.

The bricketing world will be shocked to learn of the death of Roy Kilner, the famous Yorkshire and England all-rounder, who re cently arrived from India suffering from typhoid fever.-Reuter.

Roy Kilner, who was only 97 years of age, was beyond question one of the best all-round cricketers in England, and possessed a tem- perament which quickly gained him a place in England's Test teams subsequent to his great season of 1923.

Born at Low Valley, Wombawell, near Barnsley, he came of a family of ericketers, the best-known of whom, apart from himself and his brother, Norman, being his uncle, Irving Washington, who was on the high roud to fame as a left-handed batsman when a severe illness cut
