Shanghai, 'Mar, 30. Marshal Chiang Kai-shek has requested Marshal Li Chai-sum to remain in Nanking and act as Chairman of the Central Military Council dur- ing his absence from Nanking/ for the purpose of directing operations on the Northern front.
Marshal Chiang states that he will have to leave for the Northern front vory shortly and will not be able to return to Nanking until the expedition is complete. Hé · therefore suggests that Mar- shal Li should remain in Nanking for at least one month, to take charge of military affairs at the capital.
It is reported that Marahal Li has agreed to postpone, his return to Canton-a circum- stance which is causing many rumours to be circulated here, one of which is that Marshal Li is virtually being detairied in Nanking against his will.--- Nam Chung Thao.
