A comparison of the expectation of life at birth of children born in England and in this country, made recently by R. H. Britton of the United States Public Health Toen Service, indicates that men born in England and in the United States in 1921 had approximately the same expectation of life at birth, but women born in England had Inwo years' more life expectancy than did those of the United States.

In a period of 16 years (from 1906-1921), there has been an in- crease in expectation of life of about 14 per cent., the Improve- ment being mostly in the earlier years of life.
