The Building Scheme.
This evening da not the time to give any detailed account of the building scheme. That will be done when the time comes for the opening ceremony. But the teachers and the girls of 1927 have taken nuch a share in bring- ing the scheme to a successful issue that it is only fitting that a brief account of what they have done should be given to-night.
Early in the summer, the sugges- tion came from some of the members of the Old Girls' Society that something should be done to help forward the building scheme. Their committee passed a resolu- on that they would be ready to join in any scheme that the Mother The School might decide upon.
teachers as a body expressed their readiness to support the sugges- tion, and we learned that some of the gentlemen who had been members of the Committee of 1924 were still most sympathetic and willing to help,
Accordingly, a new Committee was formed, with a view to collect- ing upwards of $20,000. This Com- mittee was an advisory and de- | terminative body, while the actual spade work in. the preparation of subscription books, etc., was done by our own teachers. It was de- cided that the members of the Committee, together with certain friends who promised to support the scheme, the teachers and the old girls should collect first, and this financial campaign was em barked upon in August.
