THE STREET BATTLE WITH ROBBERS RECALLED.
TRIÁL AT SESSIONS.
The battle between police and armed robbers in the early morn ing of December 7th last, when Sorgt. McMahon was seriously wounded, was recalled at the Criminal Sessions this morning before the Chief Justice, Sir Henry Gollan, when Chan Hung was brought up for trial on two murder charges.
Prisoner was the man who is alleged to have run away from the aceno of the encounter, and, durip the course of a long chase, to have shot dead an unarmed Chinese searcher who tried to intercept him and to have so seriously wounded a Chinese constable that the latter died.
Mr. Somerset Fitzroy is for the Crown and Mr. D'Almada a Castro, jur, in defending.
