DR. T. W. PEARCE, TO RETIRE.

The news that Dr. T. W. Pearce la retiring from active participn- tion in mission service calls for more than just passing mention. To have spent close on fifty years in public service of such a varied kind in something that few men have had the opportunity or the ability to do. From the day that Dr. Pearce landed in Canton, in November 1879, he has been giving of his heat to the cause of Christ and of the uplifting of the Chinese people
