The Flying Squad, was, as you will remember, a part of the #pecial constable organisation. fahould like hero to congratulate Dr. Thomas on the excellent work he has done, assisted by others, in organising the Flying Squad, which has been of the greatest use to the Police during the last two years,

The C. S. P. accompanied by the Commandant and the Indian and Chinese Commissioners as well as the various instructors of the Force inspected the different Companies. Mr. F. Mow Fung conducted .the. C. S. P. on la inspection of the Chi- nese Company, Mr. Sirdar Khan accompanied Mr. Wolfe through the Indian ranks and Dr. Thomas through the lines of the Flying Squad.
After the inspection, the various ranks marched passed, the C. S. P. taking the salute from the steps of the building which houses his flee. The various divisions then formed a hollow squnre and the Captain Superintendent of Police addressed them as follows:
History of the Force. "It gives me very great pleasure to be able to be present to-day at your first annual inspection. I am very pleased to say that the turn out, considering the short time you have had for training since the formation of the Reserves, is very satiefactory indeed. I think this is an occasion, being the first time that you have been inspected, on which I should say a few words concerning the formation of the Police Reserve and the history of events which led up to it.'
I should also like to say one word to the Flying Sqund. I have thanked them and shall always be grateful for the excellent work they have done but I should like to impress on in that they must comply with the ordinary require ments of the Corps as a whole and they must become efficient in their ordinary drill, ordinary theoretical work and ordinary police work, When they comply with this, I shall then have no hesitation in declaring that they are the most excellent equad in the world.
Sharpshooters.
The Police Reserve is in its infancy at the present moment and Ja 200 strong. I regret that the Sharpshooters' Company under Mr. Dovey, are not on parade to- day. They have only recently been organised and as they have only just started work they have no uniform and consequently it is not possible for them to be present. I shall have the pleasure of in-
