Legal argument followed, in the course of which Mr. Potter point- ed out that no matter how long Li Chai-sun had been in control of Canton, the fact remained that for three weeks he was dispos- seased by the "Ironsides" and the point was, not "What right had Wong to deal with the monies?" but it was a question of whether the Crown had tendered any evi- dence to show his Worship that Wong intended to act criminally. He said that no jury would con- viel the defendant.

Mr. Lindsell indicated that he would put the case over until to-day at 2.15 p.m. in order to.con- sider the cases quoted in the course of the legal argument, and to decide whether a case of lar- ceny had been made out at all.
