£1,100 PAID FOR A GREYHOUND.

MUCH HIGHER PRICES IN PROSPECT.

IF

London, Nov. 28. Fears of possible interference with greyhound racing have been removed, for the moment, at least. and this, coupled with the news that rating will take place at Wembley at an earlier date than that which apps anticipated, has caused the price of greyhounds to advance beyond the wildest conjectures.

Waterweed, the dam of Golleu "Seat (winner of the last Waterion | Cup) was last week sold for the unprecedented frure for a bitch of £840.

Twelve hundred. and sixty pounds was the price paid at the same time for a famous litter of Bix, ten months old.

It is entirely within the bounds of possibility that by this time next year greyhounds here will cost easily eight times as much na they do at present, and that will be exactly in proportion with the rise in price, which has already taken place.

A sertliny of the prices realized in former years at October sales shows that the average price was £5. as. against the average 410 to-day.
