ARMY'S' VICTORY OVER THE AIR FORCE.

The Army defeated the Royal Air Force by 132 runs in a cricket match on the Hongkong Cricket Club ground yesterday.

Batting arst, the Army compiled a total of 262 for the loss of six wickets and declared. Dynos was in great form, scoring 112 before being stump ed by Mellor of Luke's bowling. He took the tits out of the bowling the later batsmen were able to score freely. Capt. Murris reproduc ed something of his old form in get- ting 13 not out, Capt. Dobble was un- defeated with 23 to his credit, whilst Capt. Graham scored 28,

The annual "at home, organised In connexion with the Ladles Re- creation Club for the purpose of playing off, the finals of the annual hard court tennis tournament, was held at the Club courts yesterday af- ternoon," when some excellent games were seen.. There was a good at- tendance for whom refreshments were provided by a ladies committee. members of which superintended the arrangements.

The events were decided as follows: Mrs. Club championship singles: R. E, Tottenham beat Mrs. G. M. Hall 6/2, 6/1..

Hard court handicap mixed doubles; Mr. and Mrs. Grigor beat Mr. and. Mrs. Remington 6/0, 6/2.

Ladies handicap doubles: Mra, Miles and Mrs. Tottenham beat Miss Carothers and Miss Ellaby 6/0, 6/1.

Two other events were down for a decision, these being the finals of the open mixed doubles, for which the pairs were Dr. and Mrs. Tottenham and Mr. and Mrs. Stark, and the men's club championship singles, Un fortunately those taking phrt were unable to be prosent so that these events wure postpühki.

The cups were handled to the sue- cessful players at the close of the matches by Mrs. Russell Brown, who referred to the expense to which the Club had been put, owing to destruc. otion caused by, the big typhoon of this

year.

In addition to the cups presented for yesterday's winners, Mrs. Russell Brown also, handed the cup for the open ladies' championship of the Colony to Mrs. Tottenham, the win. nor. Miss Enid Lo was the runner up. This match was played off at the United Services Recreation Club's ground on Wednesday of last week.

LAST NIGHT'S MEETING.

A meeting was held at Volunteer Headquarters last evening, with a view to this reforming of the Hong- kong Rifle Lengue, which two years ngo was a prominent body in local sporting circles, bat has since become atrophied.

There was a good attendance of old boys, amongst whom wore Mr. Geo. Grimible, who gave away the shield and prizes, and Mr. C. G. Anderson, the Secretary of the Old Boys' Asso- ciation. The visitors included Mr. A. E. Wood, the Director of Education, Captain Ritchie and many prominent Chinese.
