I'm told he has played for Gloucestershire before coming out here. Anyhow, he has obviously played good cricket and has been soundly taught. I expect him to make a lot of runs this year and he should be a certainty for In Te fields well at "cover" though his throwing in is at times rather erratie.

Question of Nerves. Ramsay's was a good knock also. He started a bit shakily, but even- tally settled down to play as we all know he can. It is a pity he is always so nervous on the big occasions. It he can only eure himself of this he would be n | really good bat always.

Lieut. Dale hatted well and hit very hard. He has, I understand, played on several occasions for Northamptonshire and so, like Hunt, has a very sound knowledge of the fundamental principles of Į hatting and knows how to apply' them practically. He fields well and would be quite a useful fust medium bowler with a little more practice. He seems to me to waste too much energy in his run and is very apt at present to be on the short side. However, he is of fine physique, so 1 may prove to be wrong in this assumption. Dale, I think, is also a "sitter for inclusion in the Interport team.

Dale and Hunt are the two of note eligible for inclusion in the 10: terport team, so I have discussed their capabilities somewhat at length.

It is always advisable to haye a slow left-hand bowler in a side if possible, and it is a pity that Vallack is not here now as. he was a most useful bowler of this type last year. I understand that he does not return to the Co- lony until after the Interport con- tests. We needed a slow left- hand bowler badly in last year's team against Shanghai,

London, Oct. 22. The Irish racing fixture list for 1928 shows that many of the most important meetings have not appli- ed for dates on account of the heavy losses they have suffered this year..

F-Tlie total value of the stakes this year at those meetings which have not applled for dates was in the neighbourhood of £20,000.
