Service men and members of the public in Jarge numbers were treated to an excellent afternoon's aport on the occasion of the swim- ming gala for Service men, held beach yesterday afternoon. There was a large number of entrles, and events ware keenly contested. The gala was arranged by the Kowloon Dock United Services Club for the soldiers and sailors stationed here. No effort had been spared to provide facilities for swimming and sports, and in addition a series of band concerts were held during the summer months, which have been greatly appreciated by the public as well As the service men.

In giving a brief history of the Club's activities, he said that the idea of its formation originated with Mrs. R. M Dyer, and in its organisation most of the spade work had been done by her. On Mrs. Dyer's behalf he took it upon himself to thank Mrs. H. G. Cooper, who had been in charge of the canteen throughout the season and also Mr. HG. Cooper, hon. sec., and Mr. G. Neave, hon. treasurer, for their willing and valuable help. Last not least, they owed thanks to Mr. G. Duncan, who, had been of great assistance.
