The dead man is Dr. Swarez, and he was the medical officer in charge of the Gunong Pulai Waterworks, which position he had only held for three weeks. It is understood that he cut an artery and died in the General Hospital, Johore Bahru. It is believed that he became in- sane and committed suicide.

Dr. Swarez was an Edinburgh F.R.C.S. and one time lecturer at the Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singu pore,

The list is not yet complete for besides the above there will be a basket stall, the M.C.L. "$" stall, donkey rides, dragon procession, Chinese conjuring, fireworks and a Punch & Judy show.

Tickets for a motor car raffle. will also be sold on the grounds. It is learned that all the ordinary railes will be drawn at or before 6.30 p.m. and that the motor car rafle will take place a little later.

Pipers from the 2nd Battalion.. The Scots Guards, the 2nd Batta- lion, The King's Own Scottish Borderers, the 2nd Battalion The Cameronians will be at the fair, as well as the full military bands of the K.O.S.BS., the Queen's Royal Regiment, and the Northampton- shire Regiment.

The dance programme will be supplied by the Whitey Smith's Majestic Music Masters.

PRISONER ABSCONDS.

CRIMINAL SESSIONS CASE. ..

At the conclusion of the Chai- wan murder trial before the acting Chief Justice, Mr. J.R. Wood, at the Criminal Sessions this morn- ing, the name of Chu Kap. was called but there was no reply.

Chu Kap was charged on six counts of bribery, three being al- ternative, He was alleged to have offered sums amounting to $30, to a Chinese detective, to influence his conduct while carrying out lottery raids.

The prisoner, who was on bail of $1,000, was stated to have gone to Siam, by Mr. HK, Holmes, pro- secuting, for the Crown.

The prisoner's name having been called on two previous occasions, and his failure to ap- pear, caused Mr. Holmes to ask for the bail to be estreated this morning.

His Lordship granted the ap- plication, and also made an order for the issue of a warrant for the arrest of the prisoner.
