hole. Braid took the lead with a long hole. at the fourth, but lost the fifth, missing a yard putt. He was all square at the sixth. Playing magnificently against the wind, he won the next two holes, and turned one up.

Bad putting cost Miles the next two holes. The 12th, and 18th, were halved, and then Miles took the next four holes, becom- ing all square at the 18th.

The veteran Braid holed a ten-foot putt at the 19th, and qualified for the semi-final.
