It is expected that Mr. Tam Tay- cheo, chairman of the Canton Mer- chants Association, and concurrent- ly chief manager of the Canton Water-Works Company, will soon be released by the police authorities He was arrested several days ago because he failed to pay $180,000 to the Government towards the loan, Mr. Tam was also charged with urging other merchants not to con- tribute anything.
