The greyhound mystery was cleared up at the inquiry, when it was revealed that there was no
question of malicious poisoning: the dogs suffering an accidental
over-dose of tonic.
The trainer dosed the dogs an the night of August 30. The next morning the kennel boy gave them another doar of tonic, thinking that the trainer had forgotten to do so.
The dog Tall Oak received the last dose from the bottle which, probably owing to the bottle not being properly shaken up, was rather strong and resulted in the dog's death. Reuter
