LIEUT. EXHAM AND MISS JOAN
HAMILTON.
A very pretty and interesting wedding took place at the Garrison Church Singapore, on Friday afternoon, the contracting parties being Lieut. Kenneth Godfrey Ex- ham, Duke of Wellington's Regi- ment, son of Lieut.-Colonel Exham, R. A. 0. C. and Mrs. Exham, of Bramley, Hampshire, and Joan Eleanor Stewart Hamilton, daughter of Mr. A. W. B. The ceremony was conducted by the Rev. E. G. Semple, M.A., Chap- lain to the Forces, and as the bride and bridegroom left the church they passed under an arch of sword formed by the bride groom's brother ollicers. Lieut. C. R. T. Cumberlege was the best man, and Miss Marjorie Exham was in attendance on the bride.
The bride looked charming in a simple but very beautiful period dress of white satin, with panniers, and crowned with a veil and orange blossom. She carried a bouquet of Madonna illes. The bridesmaid wore a very becoming pale pink georgette frock, and a straw picture hat, and carried a bunch of Malmaison carnations.
After the wedding, a reception was held in the Officers' Mess where the numerous guests were received by Mrs. Burnett, and Lieut-Col. and Mrs. Exham. Col. Exham has been attached to the forces at Shanghai,

At the reception, Major I. C. Burnett, D.S.O., Officer Command- ing the Duke of Wellington's Regi- ment, proposed the health of the bride and bridegroom in a very neat and appropriate speech. The bride cut the cake with her hus- Kumi's sword.
Later the happy couple left by the Melchior Treub for Java, where the honeymoon is being spent.
A large collection of handsome, presents were displayed in the Officers' fess.
The presents included a silver blotter and inkstand from the Sergeants' Mess, a silver cigarette box from the Sergeants of No. 4 Company and a silver rose bowl from Lieut Exham's platoon, No.

SWIMMING SIMPLIFIED.
THREE DISTINCT STEPS ARE SEEN IN MAKING THE SWAN DIVE.
The swan dive is one of the dives that form the founda- tion of the diver-to-be.
The swan dive consists of three important factors, namely the take off, form in the air, and entry in the water. -
The take off must be smooth and lively, using at least three steps, the last being a jump. Then swing the arms from a position extended even with the shoulders, downward and upward in front of the body into the swan position. This arm action helps the diver in attaining height.
When leaving the board upward and outward, the body must be rigid and graceful. All movements must be easy and feel natural,
The back should be well arched, head up, arms extended to the aldes parallel with the shoulders, ankles together and the toes well pointed.
Just before entering the water the arms are brought above the head, with fingers rigid. Keep the body rigid till the dive is..completed.
