"life caused by the typhoon which swept over the Colony on Satur day. When it passed over Manila on Thursday night and Friday morning, it wrought, much havoc and caused the sinking of a tug involving the loss of 26 lives.

At Macao, where the typhoon was felt even more severely then here, there has also been widespread damage. The river steamer Hang Cheong was put ashore, the gunboat Macuo was also ashore for a while, lighters have been sank, while jürks and sampans were washed into the streets. The electric light supply has been cut off.

From official reports this morning, it would appear that the local death roll was heavier than at first thought, many belated reports of casualties coming to hand.
