Asked whether he proposed to return to Hunkow in the near future, Mr. Tong suggested that he might not return at all. A Mr. Chang had been appointed to succeed him temporarily and so he would have to wait and sec. Mr. Tong is an English return- ed student. He went to London soon after the 1911 revolution and after studying, leather tan- nery entered the University of London, from which institution he graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Science. During his stay in Lonton, he married an English lady. Upon returning to China four years ago. Mr. Tong established several large leather works in Hongkong and other pilaces, Upon entering politics last year; he was made Commis sioner for the Prevention of Smug gling in Canton and early this year was promoted Director of The No. 3 Special Administrative Japan Area.

London, July 15. The affairs of Mr. Jumes Waite were again before the Courts in connexion with an application of his widow, Mrs. Doris White, to be appointed administratrix of her husband's estates.

The Probate Judge on Wednes day held that he was legally de- barred from granting the applica- tion owing to there being two minor children. He considered. the applicant must get someone to Join her or swear that the estate was under a thousand pounds.
The matter was urgently brought into the Court of Appeal yesterday when it was stated that The trainer had refused to hand over the horses until he had been paid what was owing to him.
