This morning Li Shiu-pui said the reason why Chan did not get out of the ear when Inspector Grant told him to, was because he had his foot on the foothbrak, and if he had removed his foot the ear would have run backwards. Inspector Grant violently twisted Chan's arm behind him, and Chan called to witness to come and put the handbrake on, which he did.

A Sore Jaw? Witness continued that he saw Inspector Grant strike Chan on the shoulder, and he (witness) Chan saying, "Don't you hit him tried to persuade him not to hit or you will hurt him." Inspector Grant thun said to witness. "Don't interfere you fool." Witness re- plied "You cannot hit him like that."
