Shanghai Straits

Swatow, Amoy and Foochow Professor Picque, a well-known Shanghai surgeon of the Military Hospital. Japani Talence, near Bordeaux, was killed Amoy recently in an extraordinary acro- Japan, Canada, “Ú.S.A., *C. and *S. plane accident.

At the time he was hurrying to hospital to perform an operation on the wife of an aviation officer of the Cazans Camp.

The professor, after visiting the patient, decided that an operation was necessary at once. He had the patient placed in an ambulanc aeroplane, and he was following in another, with a third aeroplane accompanying them..

On the way the pilot of the third plane noticed that the machine carrying Professor Picque was on fire. He communicated with the pilot of the burning machine, who at once began to descend.

Meanwhile Professor Picque. who had noticed the flames and was in all probability affected by the fumes, jumped out when the aeroplane was about 300 ft. úp.

The He was picked up dead.. pilot was able to bring the burn- ing machine to the ground, and escaped with a few alight burn:
