VOLUNTEER BOXERS.-The Field Artillery Battery, S.V.C., won the Gordon Cup, the trophy prosented for competition between units of the corps, at the B.V.C.. Boxing Tournament at Shanghai recently. PLANS BIG FLIGHT-Miss Mildred Doran, pretty 21-year-old school teachor of Flint, Michigan, aims to be the first woman to take an aeroplane ride across the Pa- cific. With Pilot Augie Peddlar, she plans to fly from San Francisco to Fionolulu in a giunt monoplane.

SHANGHAI SYNAGOGUE.-An interior view of the main entranco corridor of the now Beth Aharon Synagogue which was opened at Shanghai recently by Sir Sidney Barton, K.B.E., C.M.C. On either side of the corridor are the reception room, cloak room, meeting rooms, book rooms, etc. The building was designed by Mesare. Palmer and Turner.
