Mr. Chiu Chew-fan" was of the opinion that the depression of business in the Colony was partly due to over-speculation among the Chinese, in real estate and shares, since the Great War, and that since then the foundation of the Colony's business had not been on a solid and firm base.

At the conclusion of the meet ing, the general opinion was that, for a study of trade in Hongkong, the committee appointed by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce a few days ago, together with a committee which, if possible, will would very probably enable a be appointed by the Government, great step to be taken toward the revival of business in the Colony, if these two committees would but give careful consideration to the Causes of sluggishness in different businesses in Hongkong.
