THE WORLD SPORT
TO-NIGHT'S FIGHT.
MEMORABLE MATCH EXPECTED.
MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPION- SHIP OF THE WORLD.
WALKER V. MILLIGAN, Can Tommy Milligan, the out standing fighter in Britain to-day and the holder of the middle weight championship of Europe, bring the world's title to Britain's ahorea? All England is asking that to-day, and Olympis, London's biggest arena, will be packed to-night to see what is really the first world's championship bout staged in England for more years than we care to remember.
Every avaliable inch of space has been used to increase the accommodation and it is estimated that over 13,000, persons paying from £1 to £10 will witness the clash between the holder, Mickey Walker, of Elizabeth, NJ., and Milligan.
Mickey Walker.
It is Mickey Walker's first visit to England, and he has been train- ing at Hampton Court since the end of May. He will receive the largest purse ever paid to a boxer in Europe, Mr. C. B. Cochran having guaranteed him £23,000 win, lose or draw. Milligan gets as his share of the proceeds, £4,500, a remarkable disparity, but one which can be well under- stood.
12
Walker has himself expressed the opinion that Milligan is one of the few men likely to deprive him of his crown, aid it is therefore scarce-
y to be expected that he would risk It unless able to command a pure equivalent to what he might expect in America. On the other hand, Milligan's opportunity of having a cat at the title, one would imagine is reward in itself for the brilliant Scot,

It is certain to be a great battle, Mickey Walker is 25 years of age, and was for several years welterweight champion of world. Tommy Milligan. There is n distinct contrast in styles between the two men. The holder is not a brilliant boxer by any means, but he is one of the Keenest fighters turned out by America. He hits equally hard with either hand, is a sound in- fighter and, as a solid puncher has few equals.
Milligan combines excellent boxing qualities with a power to hit effectively, a power which ho has been developing since his re- turn from Amorica. It Is In- teresting in this connexion to re call that while In America a
