The announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Mr. I. C. Burgess, of Messrs. Thos. Cook & Son, Lid, Hongkong, and Miss Marion A. Hartranft, of Nor- ristown, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. Mr. Burgess, who a well-known cricketer and an enthusiastic member of the Hengkong Volün- teer Corps, met his future bride last year while she was on a pleasure voyage to the Orient.
Miss Hartranft is the daughter of the late Mr. Samuel C. Hart- ranft and granddaughter of the late General. John F. Hartranft, USA, who was. Governor of Pennsylvania.. She is a graduate of Chevy Chase School, Washing- ton. Mr. Burgess is the son of Mr. C. F. Burgess, of Kent, England.
The marriage will take place in the United States in September next, and Mr. Burgess. plans to leave by the 8.8. "Empress of Rus- sia" on August 24th. He' will later return to Tientsin with His bride, where he has recently been appointed manager of Messrs. Cooke' branch in that city.
A host of friends will join in wishing him every happiness in the future.
