VOLUNTEERS LEADING AT
FINAL STAGES.
The final of the Soldiers' Club Billiard Tournament was commenced Inst evening the finalista boing the Royal Engineers (holders) and the Hongkong Volunteer Defence Corpn.
At the conclusion of last night's games the Volunteers led by 180 points but there are threo further. matches to be decided to-night whon the winners will be presented with the trophies by H. D. the General Officer Commanding.
A feature of Inst night's play was the big break of Mr. J. R. Soares. Up till last night the highest break was 40 by L/Bdr. Trim of the 88th Battery . A. but Mr. Soares man- aged to pass that mark by eight points, acoring 48.
The Royal Engineers have held the championship for three years. This year they obtained a bys in the first round and subsequently defeated the R. A, P. Corps and the R. A. C. Corpe..
The Volunteers also drew byo.in the first round and they bent the Sanitary Department and the 88th Heavy Battery, R. A. The full scores.

Pte. M. M. Silva (H.K.V.D.O.) beat Spr. Rodgers (R. E.) by 200--149.
Pic. L. V. Antonio (H.K.V.D.C.) beat Sen. White (R. E.) by 200--181.
