COPPER CONTROL.
HIGHER PRICES TO BRITAIN.
London, June 14.
The formation of a company em- bracing a large proportion of pro- ducers of copper in the United States, with the object of regulate ing the sale of raw copper outside that country, was the subject of questions in Parliament.
Sir P. Cunliffe Listor said he was aware that Important Euro pean interests were partics to the arrangement; and he was informed that since its formation the prices quoted to British consumers were frequently higher than to Ameri- can consumers. He added that he would welcome, the development of copper production, and in answer to a supplementary question anid there was no similarity between the control of rubber, for which prices were common to the whole world, and that of copper, in
which there was a differentiation in prices.-British Wireless.
FRENCH TARIFF.
EFFECT ON BRITISH TRADE,
London, June 14. The effect of the French tariff proposals on important branches of British trade, based on particu- lars supplied by the chambers of commerce and trade associations, has been communicated to the French Government, and has formed the subject of converan tions in Paris,
The President of the Bourd of Trade, Sir Philip Cunliffe Lister, stated in the House of Commons to-day that he could not say at present how far the French Goy- crament would find it possible to meet their wishes, but he was led to believe that the tariff was likely to be less onerous in sohe respects than was proposed in the Bill now being considered by the Customs Commission French Chamber of Deputies.
