MORE FAVORABLE BUSINESS CONDITIONS IN GENERAL INDICATED BY BUICK PRODUCTION.

A

substantial increase in sales for the first twenty days of February over the same period last year is stated by Mr. E. T. Strong, President of the Buick Motor Company to be an indication that his company and the industry in general are on the threshold of one of the greatest selling seasons the automobile business ever enjoyed. Such increases constitute al excellent barometer of favorable business conditions throughout the greater part of the world!

"Buick deliveries shotved an increase during the first twenty days of February of nearly a thousand cars over a similar period in 1920, Mr. Strong said. "We have found that au- tomobile sales are an accurate index of general business conditions."

J

"The value in using these sales figures as an index lies in the fact there has been nothing done to stimulate sales or create a demand which might be contrary to general conditions. The models now on the market are the ones introduced last August with the exception of two additional body styles which were added to the line later. Thus the upward trend- in sales can be attributed to more favorable business conditions."

MORSE TOOTING?

Suggested Motor Signalling.

One of the famous letters to the London Times contains the sugges- tion that motorists adopt the Morse code in signalling one an- other and avoiding necidents.

Three short toots, meaning S, notifies others that the tooting" driver is going to stop. A short toot, followed by a long and then a short, a code for R, would mcan a right turn is intended. Similarly L for left turn would be 4 short toot, a long and two short. toots, as every Morse operator knows.

Of course, wouldn't have to know the entire code to fall in with this suggestion. Those three letters would be essential.

But it might be advisable to know the entire code, if this were adopted officially. Then we could save our lungs when we become en- pecially pooved at some road hog. and merely idot him to shame and contrition.
