A young Chinese believed to be a teacher of an English school in Hollywood Road was

ed last night near the Central Market by two Chinese detectives, charged with larceny of $500 in the Man Yuen Cafe.

The arrested man had been a re- gular customer of the Man Yeen In Cafe for a long time past. his many. chats with the fokis and the waitresses he became fami- liar with things in the shop.

On the night of the 19th, inst. be paid his usual visit to the cafe. There he sat and chatted with the, fokis and at intervals he was seen reading a Chinese novel called "The Art of Swindling."

At 2 o'clock in the morning the cafe was closed; but Chew re- mained under the pretext that he wanted to finish reading his novel. After a while he was seen prowl- ing around the cafe. Then he suddenly disappeared.
