FINE FILM.
BIG ATTRACTION AT QUEEN'S.
'Of quite outstanding merit and worthy of being classed among the "big" films is "Tho Temptresa" now being shown at the Queen's Theatre,
It occupies the whole of the bill --and worthily so. Taken from the story by Blasco Ibanez, direct- ed by Fred Niblo, and having in its cast auch well-known actors as Greta Garbo, Antonio Moreno and Lionel Barrymore, the film has in- deed an auspicious start, and it maintains throughout the impress Το of highly artistle handling. attempt to Indiente the story- which is nothing less than a clever study of several types of people. would be to do the picture an in- justice, because it must be seen sloftly unfolding to be appreciated. There is much real and tense in- cident in the film, not the least being the epic whip fight betwoon the hero and bandit chier. There
is also a thrilling storm scene, and the bursting of a huge dam.? Perhaps one is a little disappoint- ed at the conventional ending, but up to the very last the story is fascinating and wholly unusual.
The film is showing to-day and to-morrow at all shows.
WORLD AIR CONGRESS.
STANDARDISATION
AIM.
London, April 21. An important International Air Conference opens at London next Monday,
Sir Phillip Snasoon, the Under Secretary for Air, will, preside.
The conference originally con sisted ortly of representatives of the Allied Powers, but it has been extended to include delegates front other states. Fifteen countries in addition to Great Britain and the Dominions have been invited to participate at this conference. It thus becomes in the true sense of the word, international.
On Tuesday, the Government will entertain the visitors to a banquet.
One interesting subject on the agenda is that of the competency of women to pilot commercial aircraft. From the technical aspect one of the most important suggestions is that of standard International minimum requira- ments for the issue of certifiantes of airworthiness, and unification of characteristics required for materials used in aeronautical
