TJISORODA WINS FOR

SECOND YEAR.

The seventh bi-annual race for the Trovessa Trophy for ships' lifeboats was held yesterday afternoon, attract- ing an entry of nine and was wen af- ter a gruelling contest by the Tjiso- rous for the second year in succession, all theso finishing, coming in under the hour.

Tho

fcom course was.---Start Channel Rocks, thence to Kowloon Rock (P), Mark of Yacht Club (S), Cust Rock Gas Buoy (P), finish at the Yacht Club across the line from West to Enat.

The entrants were two from Tjisc- roon, two from H. M. Transport As- saye

and one each from Hingang, Kwangchow, Chakiang. Kiungchow and Tyndareus, the last being a whaler, which did not strictly comply with the rules, but was entered by three officers who made n sporting attempt, despite the great probabili- ty of a disqualification in the event of winning. There was no Douglas Eno vessel in harbour to enter a can- didate.

The Assaye also had a bout on the scene, manned by a "anny party" garhed in picturesque pirate rig, with the "body" of their captain strung up at the yard arm, while the skull and eross bones flouted astern. The craft was named a.. Bias Bay and created a great deal of amusement.

At the Kowloon Rock, the outside Tiisernen boat, cut in and suniched the lend on the turn, while one of the Asanye's fell back to give place to the Hinsang's bout. From then on, it was a race between these four, with a possibility of either winning.

At the turn off the Yacht Club, there was even less between the boats, with the leader falling back and the Assaye boat passing into second place when she got her sail spread, to take advantage of the favouring breeze that then sprang up. Supporting 18 boat were cheering on their respec- tive candidates and burst of cruchers from the steam launch Tji signalled the joy of the Dutch contingent at their boat' leadership,

A Certain Winner.

By the time Cast Rock was turned the Tjisoreen boat was a certain win- ner, barring accidents, and with an natanishing reserve, the crew bent to their work and pushed the boat home nt a good pace which lengthened the distance between her and the first As- suye, which had won a safe lead from the second isersen. They came home in this order, with the Hinsang, after having made a serious bid prior to turning the mark buoy and sub- taking dropping buck, sequently fourth place. Following are detailed results.
