Punjabis Shot.

Shanghai, March 21. Three Punjabis at the border barrior north of the city have been shot, but there are ho details. up to the present.

Later.

The Punjabls were proceeding by truck along the municipal-road in the northern district Just out side the Settlement boundary when a number of shots were fired. at them from an alleyway through the barbed wire. Three Eunjabis were hit, one of whom died almost immediately. The others were not seriously injured.

The district is mainly populated by Cantonesu. Owing to the crowd- odness of the place no attempt was made to arrest the assailants.

Dutch, Spanish, Italian and American warships have landed naval units. In the International. Settlement and the French in the French Concession. The landings in the International Settlement were in response to the request of the Municipality who declared a state of emergency.

The Suffolks have been detailed for the defence inside the Settle- ment.-Reuter.
