Kowloon Roads.
Dost Bir,"
Would you kindly allow mo space in your valuablo columns to heartily endorse the remarks made by "Bafoty Firat" last Saturday on the dangers of oil deposits on Kowloon muin motor roads. In doing so I should like to bring forward another matter which has become more and more in evidence latoly, and one which might well be pondered over by the powers that be. I refer to the lax manner in which Chinese permit enttle to roam along the roads in the Now Territories without, in many cases, any at- tompt to control them.

"This now Hudson-Essor line of cars," said Robert B. Colo,'" general manager of the Hudson Motor Car Company, of New York, "is composed of twelvo body types a variety of cars which will meet almost any in- dividual preference. This variety is still further enhanced by the adoption of attractive colour com- binations.
"All cars are characterized by higher radiators, boode and general streamline effects. Essex is now a small counterpart of Hudson in appearance.
MECHANICAL BETTERMENTS.
To assure finer performance, a large number of mechanical betterments have been built into the care. Now ignition systems provide a full automatic control. Sparks are 50 per cent. hotter than ever previously used.
"In the Hudson, the F-head type of valve arrangement is om- ployed. This locates the intako valves in the head of the motor and the exhaust valves at the side. No other arrangement of this type is now known in Ameri- can production.
"In the Super Six principle of construction used in both cars the vital component is the crank- shaft. This type of crankshaft, patented more than eleven years ago by Hudson, is designed with counter-weights, so located and arranged that the shaft rotates even at high speed with a fly- wheel-like effect.
"The improved Essex engine runs with remarkable smoothness and is capable of 4000 r. p. m. With an improved and highly de. veloped splash lubrication system, amplo cíl is supplied to the engine at all speeds up to the maximum. Twenty pounds have beon added to the flywheel-and- clutch assembly. This additional weight, plus close weighing and checking of all units, greatly in- creases the smoothness of the on- gino.
SUPER-SIX RE-DESIGNED.
"In order to utilize the super- power of the Hudson the chassis and running gear have been re- designed. The frame is four inches lower due to an entirely new construction." Wheels have boon reduced in size, with 31x6 tyres now fitted. A patented type of rour-spring construction has the rear ends attached to the extended ends of the rear frame. cross member. The springs are sat at an angle, the roar onde be- ing farthest apart, u foaturo which is said to givo exceptional stability on curves as well as straightaway. All plunging effect is said to have boon eliminated, Steoring mochanism has been perfectod to do away with "ahimmying' effecta. Tho four-
