BRIGHTON DEFEATED AT BOURNEMOUTH.

London, Mar. 2. Matches played yesterday in the English and Scottish Leagues ro sulted as follows:

The chief topic of conversation in local cricket circles last week- end was the defeat of Kowloon C.C. by the 2nd/King's Own Scot- tish Borderors in the First Div sion League. This reverse for the Peninsula side might have been much more serious to them in their Everton race for the championship, but for their victory over the Indian R.C. lust Saturday.

VOLUNTEERS BEAT SERVICES.

Fiolding possibly their, strongest, team available, the Voluntoors repont- ed Monday's performance over the Peat of the League by beating the Services by an innings and 51 runs on the Club ground yesterday. The Services were in no way a work team composed of practically all the best players in the Army and Navy.

The Services balted first and could do nothing with the bowling of Bow- ker and Vallack, who dismissed the whole tog for the miserable total of 40 runs. Bowker took five of the wickets

for 10 runs, while Vallack was less

fortunate and gave away 30 runs for his

The Kowloos X1, who are still at the head of the Longue table, have two more matches to play, and in the event of their secur- ing full points in both of these, their only possible rivals for pride of place will be the K.0.3.B., who, Dundee Un. like the lenders, haveldropped five pointa, having lost one mitch and played a draw in another. Pro- vided those sides win their remain- ing matches (in which case they will tie for first place and a re- play will he necessary), the Royal Navy will have a say in the matter.. as they are only two points behind Kowloon..

The on the Spokunpeo ground, Indians have rarely shown such poor batsmanship (they were well dismissed for 45 runs).. Their poor form is attributed in some quarters in the long spell that they had beer away from the cricket field. For some six weeks in suc- ecision they were not engaged in

either League or friendly fixture, and their nets were hardly used of an evening.

Lyal, the Kowloon captain, waa responsible to a great extent for the victory of his side, as it was
