The accomplishmerit of. last year's expedition was cu: siled by the difficulty of ferrying adequate supplies of gasoline from Fair- banks to Barrow by rail. During the past Summer Cuptain Wilkins sant 1,500 gallons of gasoline to Point Barrow by trading boat; other gasoline supplies are avail able at Barrow, so that he will find a supply sufficient, for his needs there upon his arrival.

IIoward Mason, one of the most expert short-wave radio operators in the world, will cross the Endi- cotts with the plane and install im proved apparatus in Barrow, from which station he will relay to Fair- banks the messages received from the plane in flight. Last year's installation was successful in spite of the crippling of the transmit- ting set at Barrow by the loss of the generator, which it was found impossible to carry to Barrow by
lerige.
The new and lighter type of gen- arator to be used this year will be carried in the plane.
Spring mattresses and hot sup~ pers will be provided for the tramps after they have taken a hot bath. In the corridors along which the individual cubicles aro distributed will be electric push- bella to allow the inmates to sum- mon without trouble the services of an attendant.
