Pleading guilty to a charge of

coolie was sentenced to six months' hard labour with:20 strokes of the birch, by Mr. W. Schofield at the Kowloon Magistracy yosterday afternoon. The defendant plead- Led guilty to the charge.

Sergeant Kennedy said that..tho complainant who resided at 145 Portland Street, had gone to. Dundas Street to purchase BODIC vegetables on Saturday last and one returning, she was stopped by the defendant and another man at the Junction of Dundas and Portland Streets.

One of the scaplanes from H.M. S. Hermes crashed in the harbour" yesterday afternoon, slightly in- juring the pilot and doing some damage to the machine,

The plane was stunting in the neighbourhood of Wanchai about three o'clock in the afternoon, when apparently something went wrong and the machine hending down'into the water near H.M.S. Veteran. The pilot, sus- tained slight injuries and the sea- plane was damaged, necessitating. it being towed back to the Hermes by a naval boat n short time after- wards.

The pilot was I. R. Grant, 403 Flight. He was appointed to H.. M S. Hermes in June 1925, As he fell into the water he struck his head on the wind shield but his injuries were slight
