Owing to the arrival of increasingly large numbers of Chinese troops from the North and many stragglers from Marshal Sun's defeated army the situation in Shanghel is becomingly increasingly tense.

British troops yesterday occupied the defence line outside the International Settlement boundaries, and it is expected that American and Japanese quotas will also soon be in the line. Italian troops are occupying their particular sector:

There have been some clashes between the Shantung troope and Marshal Sun's forces on the Settlement border, but these have not, so far, been serious.
