BRITISH FILM PROGRESS.
FUTURE OF LEADING PRODUCING COMPANY.
For the future of British film production it is of the utmost importance to learn that, by an arrangement between British Na- tional Pictures and Wardour Films, Mr. Maxwell, chairman of War- dour Films, has joined the board of British National Pictures, gayg the Daily Chronicle.
Mr. Maxwell will still continue as chairman of Wardour, wand will proceed with the plans al- ready announced for the making of British Pictures..
Pending the reorganisation of the management, of British Na- tional, the business of this com- pany will be carried on by a management committee of the board.
Meantime, the capital of British National Pictures will be immedi ately incroased, so that further accommodation may be provided at the Elstree Studios, admittedly the finest in the world, and as that the British National pro- gramme of productions may be enlarged to include a number of pictures expressly designed for the British Empire market, which films, it is understood, will be directed by Mr. Alfred Hitchcock. British National Pictures havo also accured the Empire rights of the new Schoufftan process, by which film production costs can be reduced by 20 to 80 per cent, and by which all necessity for do Ing "exteriors" will disappear.
British National are to form a separate company in connection. with this process, which is a con pliented manipulation of modela and mirrors, and will invite all' other British producing companies to co-operate in its being used to further the making of gönnine Bri tish pictures.
