THE HONGKONG TELEGRAPH, FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 1927.

THE WORLD SPORT

THE SHIELD TIES.

HOLDERS AGAINST NEW LEAGUE CHAMPIONS.

TO-MORROW'S PROSPECTS.

[By "Wanderer."]

League warfare is temporarily suspended to-morrow for the more glamourous Shield struggles. The Senior draw worked out splendidly, the coupling proving remarkably ovon. The outstanding match is that between Kowloon (the hol- ders) and the Club'de Recrelo (now league champions) on the Recreio ground, and the seating necommodation at King's Park will be heavily taxed.

The wet weather of the past few days is likely to have its effect on the performances of light teams, by which I mean that the Chinese Atheletic, South China and Club de Recreio, who reply to an ap- préciable extent on speed of attack for success, will find the heavy going to their disadvantage.

Interviewed by Reuter, Mr. Cochran said that the purse was substantial but not extravagent. The fight may be held in Scotland as he had had an attractive .pro- posal from a Scottish syndicate. There was difficulty in getting a suitabla building in London at that time. The Albert Hall was! impossible because of the large number of proprietary seats from which the promoter did not derive any benefit.

There has not been a world's championship fight in Britain since Freddie Welsh (Wales) boat Willie Ritchie (California) in 1914.

It should be noted that in ull-Reuter. Shield games Lo-morrow, extra thine mt be played in the event of a draw at the end of 70 minutes.
