FRINGE DRESSES.
ACTRESS SETS NEW PASHION.
Fringe has been used by the dress designer in all sorts of ways during the last few months, but Miss Tallulah Bankhead's "all- over-fringe dress," which she is wearing in "The Gold Diggers," strikes quite a new note,
MAKE YOURSELF BEAUTIFUL.
BY A WOMAN DOCTOR.
Every woman longs to be beauti- ful and there is no reason why one should not applaud the desire.
Healthy Attractiveness.
The less fortunate majority have to be content to make the best of the gifts they have. But It is Iamentable that many through ignorance of health principles only succeed in leasening instead of in- crossing their charms.
A really healthy woman, what- ever may be the shape of her fea- tures etc. cannot help being at- tractive; moreover, a little com- mon sense will make her doubly

A woman should remember that overheated stuffy, atmospheres will ruin in time the best of faces, She should therefore take care to ar- range for an antidote in the shape. of exercise in the open air at least once a day.
Bain-water is a great beautifier As a face-wash, so that a showery walk minus an umbrella is strong- ly to be recommended.
Face-powder certainly improves most faces provided the tint is carefully chosen and skilfully ap- plied, but we must pay attention to the hygiene of
ur skin.
A good, plain, unscented cold cream should be applied first after washing, and then the powder lightly dusted over.
Powder has a drying effect on the skin and for this reason is used in many skin complaints as a vehicle for medicaments; hence in the normal condition this must be counteracted by the subsequent | application, of grease.
Some Blemishes.
At night all the powder should be washed off with warm water and plain castile soap, and a pure fat such as white vaseline gently rubbed in.
Not only is the whole skirt of the dress composed of layers of fringe made of white iridescent sequins, but the bodice consits of another row of fringe, having ra- ther a bolero effect, hanging from a sort of yoke, high in the shout-do permanent damage to the skin

KEEP YOUR INDIVIDUALITY.
ACT FOR YOURSELF.
Someone once said that no two people over twenty-five could live. together under the same roof for many years without loss of in- dividuality for one.
Doubtless the speaker was in a pessimistle mood engendered by a domestic crisis of the kind which will occurr now and again in the best regulated families. Possibly he bad last a game of golf through having had to be present at the baby's christening, or had been taken to task by frate parents for arriving home with the milk.
Nevertheless, there is some truth in the statement. Most grown-up people, however, who suffer any loss of individuality through living at home, are aware of the fact, and kick against it.
The amazing thing is that so many people should be content to sacrifice their individuality to others elther without being aware of the fact that, they are doing it or else because they are quite will- ing through sheer laziness.
How often do you see two people, who are not by any mer s equale in the relationship which exists be- tween them though they call them- selves friends, and who have be come almost inseparable-living together, visiting together, spend- ing their holidays together.
One is nearly always the do- minant character, and the other either leans upon her, or "gives in."
The tendency for the weaker na- ture to drift with the stronger is a very common one, but it should be fought tooth and nail, because it hinders the development of character and the production of the weaker nature's best.
