A number of books have recently appeared purporting to give a true and accurate account, of life in the French Foreign Legion. As one who knows the Legion's life

both in barrucks and in the field,

I would like to point out that these

stories and incidents are; to say

the least, picturesque exaggera-- tions, writes Mr. Hugh Vincent in a Home paper.

True, the life of a. legionaire is not a bed of roses. But he knows- this before he joins. The Legion," moreover, bus 'been the means of saving many from utter extinction.
